Breast lift is a surgical procedure performed to bring the sagging breasts back to an upright position. During this surgery, three basic procedures are performed: the nipples are moved to where they should be, the breast tissue is shaped and the excess skin is removed. If the breasts are large, the excess breast tissue is removed, and if they are small, they are supported with silicone prostheses.

Breast lift surgeries are performed with reduction for those with large and sagging breasts, and with augmentation in hollow and sagging patients after births or weight loss. Breast lift surgery is applied to those who have structurally sagging breasts, those with large and sagging breasts, those whose breasts sag after childbirth and breastfeeding, those whose breasts sag after excessive weight loss and those whose breasts sag with age. In addition, this procedure is performed on patients with “Tubular Breast Deformity”, which is also called “Goat Breast”.

Breast lift procedures are usually performed on middle-aged patients who have given birth. However, if their breasts are structurally saggy, it can also be applied to very young patients. Especially in patients with “Tubular Breast Deformity”, surgery can be performed at a very early age. As with all aesthetic procedures, breast lift surgeries are not applied to patients under 18 years of age unless there is a special situation.

If the size of the breast tissue is sufficient, only the lifting process can be performed. However, breast reduction is often performed in lifting surgeries. Thus, it is ensured that the breast can maintain its upright shape for a longer time. In patients with tissue loss in their breasts after births and weight loss, in addition to lifting, the breast should be plumped with silicone prostheses. Thus, a erect and full breast appearance can be obtained.

Before breast lift surgery, every patient should have mammography/breast USG. The radiological image obtained before the procedure on the breast is very important for subsequent follow-ups. When 1 year has passed since the operation, mammography/breast USG is repeated. Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and in the operating room environment. The operation takes about 2 hours. The more sagging in the breasts, the longer the operation lasts. You can eat and stand up 4-6 hours after the end of surgery. There is a small dressing at the patient’s incision site. After two days she can take a bath.

For the first 3 weeks, he should not do sports except walking. Again, the first 3 weeks should wear the sports bra day and night. After the third week, he can do all sports activities except arm and chest movements. After the sixth week, all kinds of sports activities are allowed.

As the patient ages, there will be some loosening in the breasts; however, there is never a case of going back to before surgery. According to the degree of sagging in breast lift surgeries, scars may remain around the nipple and on and under the breast, these scars are erased and become difficult to notice.

The risk of not being able to give milk in those who have undergone lifting surgery is even lower than in those who have undergone reduction. It can be said that the rates of giving milk are no different from those of ordinary women.

There may be temporary loss of sensation after breast lift surgeries. Permanent loss of sensation is not expected. A few months after the operation, the nipples regain their former sensitivity.

Breast lift has no connection with breast cancer. When done in conjunction with reduction, it significantly reduces the risk of breast cancer. In addition, pathological examination of the removed parts provides important information in terms of patient follow-up. The risk of cancer does not increase in patients who use prosthesis during lifting.
